Scream 7

When a new Ghostface killer emerges in the quiet town where Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) has built a new life, her darkest fears are realized as her daughter (Isabel May) becomes the next target. Determined to protect her family, Sidney must face the horrors of her past to put an end to the bloodshed once and for all.

This was a decent entry in the franchise.  I mean let's be honest at this point they are not reinventing anything and it's really just more of the same.  It was a decent amount of nostalgia, a good enough amount of jump scares and they actually definitely upped the violence of the kills which caught me off guard.

I would recommend any fan of the franchise checking this out.  It was a decent entry and nothing to really complain about.

I Can Only Imagine 2

A decade after the chart-topping success of "I Can Only Imagine," Bart Millard is on top of the world, but his personal life is fracturing. When his son faces a life-altering health diagnosis, Bart is forced to confront his past to avoid repeating the mistakes of his father. Featuring new music and a deeper look into the power of gratitude, this powerful sequel follows the journey behind the hit song "Even If".

This movie was exactly what you would think it was.   A spiritual heart string puller that is a decent watch.   Very similar to the first one - these types of movies really depend on your mindset when currently watching them.  If you are open to inspiration and hope at the time they are great and very reassuring.  If you are not you watch them like get the hell out of here.  LOL!

I would somewhat recommend people checking this out.  Like I said - if you are in the right mindset it is a decent watch.

Psycho Killer

Following the brutal murder of her state trooper husband, officer Jane Thorne (Campbell) tracks a serial killer known as the "Satanic Slasher" (James Preston Rogers), revealing a deeply depraved, sinister agenda.

This movie was hot garbage.  Like absolute hot garbage.  It could have easily been a movie that was so bad that you are still able to enjoy it because of laughing at how trash it is but this movie was even worse than that because they tried to take themselves seriously.   Like how do you make a movie this lame and act like it's taking it serious level quality?

I would recommend nobody see this.   Ever.

How To Make A Killing

Becket Redfellow (Glen Powell), a blue-collar worker, is disowned at birth by his incredibly wealthy, elite family, the Redfellows. After his mother passes away, leaving him with nothing but a desire for the life he was denied, Becket decides to reclaim his inheritance. To secure his place in the $28 billion fortune, he hatches a meticulous, murderous scheme to eliminate the seven relatives standing in his way.

This movie was a pretty funny presence and at times the movie was actually pretty funny too.  The problem with dark comedies though is that line of serious versus funny and this movie while enjoyable didn't really balance that well enough.   It started much funnier but then got more and more serious.   If it would have been balanced a little better as it went this movie could have honestly been great.

I would still somewhat recommend people checking this out.  The cast is good enough and you are invested in the story regardless even though the balance was kind of off as it went.

Crime 101

A master thief planning a final, massive job is chased by a dedicated cop while battling an unhinged rival thief.

This movie had a really really great cast and it very much made the movie.   It wanted desperately to be like Heat and you could feel that from the start.  My only real issue with this movie was the pacing of it being SUPER slow.  Like this movie could have easily been 30 minutes shorter.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out though.  As slow paced as it was it was still an enjoyable watch for sure.

Wuthering Heights

The film centers on the intense, destructive bond between Catherine Earnshaw (Robbie) and her adopted brother/soulmate Heathcliff (Elordi). It highlights their shared trauma, social displacement, and cruel manipulation of others.

Movies based in this time period have always been kind of like my kryptonite.  There is something about how overly dressed and proper they all are.  LOL!!   This movie definitely had the same effect for me even though it was more watchable than most.  This just seemed like a Romeo & Juliet kind of movie in that time period.

I would sort of recommend anyone that loves tragic love stories checking this out.  Otherwise, there would really be no reason for you to bother.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die

A "Man from the Future" (Rockwell) arrives in the present to stop a super-intelligent AI from being created, facing off against police, zombies, and other dangers in a time-loop scenario.

This movie was quirky as hell but that was honestly its hook.   It started to get a little too complicated later on but at least they had done a good enough job of hooking you so that you were invested in seeing how it all turned out.  And let's be honest - who doesn't enjoy watching Sam Rockwell in pretty much anything.   LOL

I would somewhat recommend people checking this movie out.  It's extremely quirky at times like I said but if you can get past that its a pretty good movie overall.

GOAT

Will is a small goat with grand ambitions, dreaming of becoming the greatest of all time (GOAT) in "roarball"—a high-intensity, full-contact, co-ed sport dominated by massive predator animals. Living in the hectic urban landscape of Vineland, Will gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to join his favorite team, the struggling Thorns. Despite skepticism from teammates and a, , , arrogant superstar MVP standing in his way, Will is determined to prove that he has what it takes to revolutionize the game.

This was actually better than what I expected.  I figured it would just be the underdog sports movie which it very much was.  But the movie also had a lot of character development and good moral/uplifting side stories that made you much more invested in the movie for adults since kids were already guaranteed to like it.

I would definitely recommend families checking this out.  It was a better than expected enjoyable movie.

Solo Mio

A wedding disaster leaves a groom stranded in Rome, heartbroken in the world's happiest city. However, with help from a determined local and a few meddling couples, his ruined honeymoon becomes an adventure that he never expected.

This was a cute yet completely formula movie.  It was kind of different to see a rom-com with a leading man instead of a leading woman.  And Kevin James actually did a really good job in the role.  He left his usual silly comedy on the side and it made the movie feel genuine enough to keep you interested.

I would somewhat recommend people checking this movie out.  It's a decent enough watch.

The Strangers Chapter 3

The film picks up directly after Chapter 2, with Maya in a cat-and-mouse game with Scarecrow (Gabriel Basso) and Dollface after she previously killed Pin-Up Girl.

How in the blue hell did this movie get a trilogy?   Like I will be asking that forever.   And how do you take one of the most genuinely scary movies I have seen over the years and do a trilogy prequel to it that is this bad and utterly pointless?   This movie was just as dull and stupid as Chapters 1 and 2.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this.  Like ever.   Any of them.

Whistle

Following the death of a student, a new, troubled student named Chrys (Keen) finds the artifact in her locker. The sound of the whistle causes anyone who hears it to be hunted by their impending doom.

This movie was pretty much just a mash up of a cursed object movie with Final Destination.  I honestly felt like I have seen this movie several times already.   It wasn't entirely unwatchable saying that.  It was just beyond formula and predictable.

I would sort of recommend people checking this out.   It's not a must see by any means but its also not the worst horror movie you will see.

Dracula

Directed by Luc BessonDracula: A Love Tale (2026) is a gothic romantic drama starring Caleb Landry Jones as a 15th-century prince who renounces God after his wife’s tragic death, becoming an immortal vampire. Centuries later, he traverses time to find her reincarnation in 19th-century Europe, pursued by a relentless priest (Christoph Waltz).

I honestly tried to give this movie a chance.   I made it about halfway through and honestly had no clue what was going on nor did I care at all.  There was literally no hook in this movie at all and it was not even worth finishing.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this movie at all.  It's a total waste of time.

Shelter

Mason, a former elite operative living in self-imposed exile on a remote Scottish island. After rescuing a young girl named Jesse from a deadly storm, his isolated life is shattered, forcing him to confront his dangerous past and protect her from enemies.

This was exactly what you would think it is.  Jason Stratham 35.  Guy trying to avoid his past gets forced
to remember all his fighting skills and protect an innocent person.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering with this.  Its honestly just another retread of all his
movies.

Iron Lung

Survivors of the apocalypse send a convict in a small submarine to explore a desolate moon that's an ocean of blood.

I have no idea how this movie had all the great buzz for originality and what not.  This was trash.  I made it about half way through.  This was basically a homemade movie with zero suspense.

I would not recommend anyone bothering with this movie whatsoever.   Total waste of time.

Send Help

A woman and her overbearing boss become stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. They must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it's a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.

The movie honestly gave away pretty much every part of this movie in the marketing.  Like there were no huge curves or shocks.    There were jump scares and stuff but the movie was pretty formula.  That being said it was still a very enjoyable watch because of the dynamic between the two leads.  This was basically a very enjoyable tension raising movie.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out.  Be warned that there are some serious gory scenes but like they feel pretty real under the circumstances of the characters' plight.

Mercy

In the near future, an advanced AI judge tells a captive detective that he's on trial for the murder of his wife. If he fails to prove his innocence within 90 minutes, he'll be executed on the spot.

This movie was a decent premise and was definitely short enough to be an enjoyable watch.  It was pretty formula and easy to figure out but the time crunch tension made it work.   I am confused about the star power in the movie and the fact that it was filmed in IMAX and had some of the most limited marketing I have seen for a wide release in a long time though.

I would somewhat recommend people checking this out.  It is not a must see by any means but its also not bad and a pretty good quick watch.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

Dr. Kelson finds himself in a shocking new relationship with consequences that could change the world as he knows it, while Spike's encounter with Jimmy Crystal becomes a nightmare he can't escape.

Not gonna lie - I thought 28 Years Later was TERRIBLE.   Like I did nothing but make fun of it while watching it for a whole bunch of reasons.   The ending of that movie was so random and ridiculous because I didn't know it was part of a two part movie filmed together that ended super randomly.   So my expectations for this were rock bottom.   I don't know if it was because of the super low expectations or just the fact that this movie actually was better I liked it more than 28 Years Later.   I'm not saying anyone should rush and see this.  Not at all.  There are still some incredibly laughable moments and characters in this.   Just that it was a better watch than the last one.

I would somewhat recommend that people check this movie out.  This is a better continuation than the last entry was but again - this could just be the annoyance of the last movie effecting my opinion.

Primate

Lucy's tropical island homecoming turns deadly when her family's clever chimpanzee, Ben, becomes rabid. With her father away and no help coming, paradise becomes a prison as Lucy and her friends fight for survival against a pet they once trusted.

The movie?   The movie was garbage.   Like exactly what you would expect from random pet chimp gets rabies storyline.   Silly horror.  The movie going experience though?   I have rarely laughed this hard during a trash movie like this.   There were two people a couple rows back from us that were doing commentary the whole movie and my bestie and I couldn't remotely get annoyed because it was like they were going off a script from our minds over the last twenty years.   I saw this movie three days ago and I am still laughing about the experience.

Would I recommend the movie?  Absolutely not.  Unless you are watching it with those same two people that were in the theater.  Then it would be a definite yes.

Greenland 2: Migration

In the aftermath of a comet strike that decimated most of the planet, the Garrity family must leave the safety of their Greenland bunker to traverse a shattered world in search of a new home.

I know that I watched the original but have pretty much no memory of it whatsoever except for some armageddon type visual effects.   I watched this movie today and I can honestly say the same exact thing about it.  It is completely forgettable like right after watching it except for some end of the world visual effects that looked cool.  Like that is literally all it is.

I wouldn't recommend anyone bothering with this.  It's pretty much a massive waste of time.

Is This Thing On?

Facing middle age and an impending divorce, Alex finds new purpose in the New York comedy scene, while his wife, Tess, confronts the sacrifices she made for their family.

This movie is the exact kind of movie that explains why I try to see everything that comes out within the year to properly account for the Best or Worst of the previous year.   Right after the year ends that cuts movies off, I see this movie that 100% would have been on my Top 10 of 2025 list.  This was a very genuine and realistic movie about people dealing with relationships, marriages and mental health.  The conversations, the things that they turned to in order to deal with things, the dealing with the friends, family and kids all felt beyond genuine.  Will Arnett did a great great job in this movie.

I would absolutely recommend people checking this out.  Its a very great character drama across the board.

The Ten Best Movies of 2025

Honorable Mention - The Long Walk

This movie could have made the top ten if it wasn't for the final season that annoyed me and tainted the movie.   Great points of view on the world given throughout the movie and a very simple concept that was done in a great storytelling way.

10 - The Fantastic Four: First Steps

I feel as if ultimately this movie will end up being defined by how the characters are portrayed moving forward in the MCU.  But that being said - I loved that this wasn't the third attempt at an origin story.  I loved the cast.  I am also very excited to see what's to come from them.   This was Marvel feeling like Marvel again and hopefully that continues.

9 - The Unbreakable Boy

I usually have zero patience for the faith and religious type movies.   I don't know if they are just being done better or if I'm in need of more hope as I get older and the world gets crazier but this movie grabbed my heart and wouldn't let go.

8 - Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning

Yes I absolutely wish these movies could come down closer to 2 hours than 3 but I have loved this franchise from day one and this "final" entry was no different.  The action and stunts are always out of control and the growing "family" feelings with the returning characters are awesome.

7 - Thunderbolts

I know I said that Fantastic Four was Marvel feeling like Marvel again but this movie captured that even more after a couple years of them treading water pretty much.   I loved everything about this - the cast, the connections and the adding of mental health stuff really humanized the heroes in a way that had not been done before.

6 - How To Train Your Dragon

The original is one of my favorite movies of all time and might honestly be my number one animated movie of all time.   This live action remake was perfectly done.   It was actually almost too perfectly done because they really didn't change or add anything.   That would be the only knock I would make against it.

5 - Roofman

Never in a million years did I think this movie would end up on this list.  This was very much the movie that I saw the trailer for before every movie and just needed the movie to come out so that I could stop seeing it.  Yet the movie ended up feeling like one of the most genuine and down to earth movies I saw all year.   Like it made you connect with the characters and very invested in their journeys.

4 - Lilo & Stitch

The second of two live action remakes on the list.   Like the previous one - Lilo & Stitch is a massively important movie to me and they did an EXCELLENT job of turning it into live action along with some tweaks throughout that also worked incredibly which usually doesn't happen.   All of the same emotions were conveyed and hit just as great.

3 - One Battle After Another

This is the movie that I think will be winning a ton of 2025 awards and rightfully so.  It was great acting and really great storytelling with intersecting characters and stories at different times and over a long period of time.   That is all very very impressive.

2 - Weapons

It's very rare that a scary or horror movie can hit me or stick with me like this one did.  The marketing was awesome and I fully expected it to make the movie fail.  But then the movie ended up being much more than the trailers weirdness.  It had a ton of creepy as hell moments and the way of telling the story from multiple different angles and showing how they connect just before changing the point of view again was awesome.   And any time that there is a movie that when the bad guy gets what is coming to them in a super violent and gross way that the audience is just out loud cheering and clapping - you have managed to fully engross your audience for sure.

1 - F1

I was stunned at how much I loved this movie.  It was pretty much formula in every possible way but like it worked so well.  This movie felt like a massive throwback to late 80s and early 90s movies that made me fall in love with going to the movies in the first place.   Like you just locked in for two hours and enjoyed the ride.

The Ten Worst Movies of 2025

Dishonorable Mention - I Know What You Did Last Summer

This could have been beyond easy to do.  Just redo the same movie with the nostalgia thrown in.  Pretty much every franchise has done it to pretty decent success.  BUT when you remove the actual crime that was "done last summer" and make it just peeps seeing an accident then what is it that you are hiding or running from.  I was so unable to get past that choice and honestly still can't.

10 - Dangerous Animals

Premise seemed crazy but at least original.  Serial killer that uses sharks to kill his victims.  However, when there is only one shark killing someone scene in the movie . . . . . . doesn't that negate the whole serial aspect of it all?

9 - Love Hurts

I'm honestly over the action porn genre of movies.   These are like those movies that are so over the top action with gore and stuff.   Like there have been some good ones but this should not have ever become a genre with movies like this regularly coming out.

8 - Five Nights At Freddy's 2

This is one of those pop culture things that I will just never understand.  The movies are so cheesy and are neither scary or funny.   Like what are these supposed to be?

7 - The Day The Earth Blew Up

I used to LOVE Looney Tunes movies.   Was actually excited about them deciding to release a new one.  How was this sooooooo bad?  Like I found myself hate watching a cartoon that I grew up loving.   I really don't understand how this could be done so wrong/bad.

6 - Karate Kid: Legends

When nostalgia is done good it can be great.   Ironically - Cobra Kai is pretty much the template for it.   However, this movie was honestly terrible and the marketing was absolute bs because the peeps marketed so heavily nostalgia wise were barely in the movie.

5 - A Minecraft Movie

Like I said before with the Five Nights franchise, there are certain things that I just don't get.   The whole Minecraft thing was a kids pop culture thing that just went right over my head with zero understanding or care.   I found it all pretty annoying and this movie was beyond that.   I just watched the whole thing with an annoyed WHAT face and its crazy because I pretty much like everyone in the cast.

4 - Bride Hard

The world knows that there are few bigger fans of Fat Amy than this guy.  However, how in the blue hell was this movie a wide release much less made at all.  This was outright painful and couldn't even succeed as being tongue in cheek.

3 - The Toxic Avenger

It is downright terrifying and a true statement to how bad movies were this year that this movie is not number on on the list.   I saw things in this movie that will be etched in my brain forever.  Seeing this was an all time sign of friendship.

2 - Flight Risk

This movie was so bad on so many many levels.   Yet, I somehow managed to find a way to make it worse.  I saw this movie in a 4D theater to see what it was like.   I left with back pain, a banged up knee and felt the aftereffects for days from being thrown around while watching the movie because of the extra effects.   Literally walked out of there like I was in a 90 minute fight.  Definitely a memorable experience but absolutely not a good one.

1 - Better Man

I may have only made it through 30 minutes of this movie but like WHAT . . . . . . WAS . . . . . . THIS!?!  Is Robbie Williams a big enough deal that he warrants an autobiographical film about him?   That is quite honestly a big enough question to kill this movie.   But then add in that he was played by a CGI monkey for some reason and . . . . . . BOOM!!!   Worst movie of the year that came out like 3 days into the year.   Congrats!
