Case 39

In Case 39, family services social worker Emily Jenkins (Renée Zellweger) thinks she has seen it all... until she meets 10-year old Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland) and the child's cruel and dangerous parents. Her worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to harm Lily, their only daughter. Frightened for her life, Emily enlists the help of Detective Mike Barron (Ian McShane) and takes Lily in while she continues the search for the perfect foster family. Just as it seems as though Lily is on her way to a more loving home, under the guidance of Emily and psychiatrist (Bradley Cooper), dark forces surrounding this young girl come to light and, little do they know, their attempts to protect her will only bring on greater horror.

I'm really confused by how little fanfare this movie got. It seems like there is a crazily overmarketed horror/"thriller" coming out every other week. I see them all and maybe one out of five ends up being worth the time. Then there is this movie, which is barely advertised at all. I didn't even know about this movie until about a week before it opened. Even more shockingly, this movie was one of the rare "thrillers" that actually delivered. The kid is creepy. The story build up is good and there are LEGIT actors in this. How in the blue hell was this kept so on the down low?

I would definitely recommend that "thriller" fans check this out. Its one of the better offerings in that genre for a while.

Nowhere Boy

Imagine... John Lennon's childhood. Liverpool 1955: a smart and troubled fifteen year-old is hungry for experience. In a family full of secrets, two incredible women clash over John: Mimi, the buttoned-up Aunt who raised him, and Julia, the prodigal mother. Yearning for a normal family, John escapes into the new and exciting world of rock n' roll where his fledgling genius finds a kindred spirit in the teenage Paul McCartney. Just as John begins his new life, tragedy strikes. But a resilient young man finds his voice - and an icon explodes into the world.

This is another one of those just kind of there movies. There really is not much to write about it at all. Its not too good. Its not too bad. Its just there. There are a couple of cool connections shown on how the Beatles started and I had high hopes for the kid playing John Lennon after his turn in Kick-Ass, but there really wasn't much to the movie.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering to check this out. Its really not worth the time or money. You'd probably be better off just waiting for it to randomly show up on cable.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

Shia LaBeouf stars with Michael Douglas, who'll reprise his Gordon Gekko role. Langella will play Lewis Zabel, an old-time broker who mentors LaBeouf's character, a young Wall Street broker. When Gekko comes out of prison, he essentially has to redefine himself, redefine his character, he's looking for that second chance. LaBeouf portrays Jake Moore, who is the fiancé of Gekko's daughter, played by Carey Mulligan; Josh Brolin as the head of an investment bank; and Susan Sarandon as Jake's mother.

Maybe its just how not into the financial or economy world I am, but I was bored out of my mind watching this. It was a very long two hours with the characters either going bla bla bla bla or crying. Seriously. They were either talking about a bunch of stuff that I simply don't care enough to understand or crying about the backstabbing that was going on. I've always liked Michael Douglas and I'm a big Shia LaBeouf fan, but I just couldn't get into this movie at all.

I really wouldn't recommend people checking this movie out . . . . . . unless the state of the economy or day trading is up your alley. I have no interest in that stuff whatsoever so this movie was a huge snoozefest for me.

Legend Of The Guardians

Acclaimed filmmaker Zack Snyder makes his animation debut with the fantasy family adventure "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," based on the beloved books by Kathryn Lasky. The film follows Soren, a young owl enthralled by his father's epic stories of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, a mythic band of winged warriors who had fought a great battle to save all of owlkind from the evil Pure Ones. While Soren dreams of someday joining his heroes, his older brother, Kludd, scoffs at the notion, and yearns to hunt, fly and steal his father's favor from his younger sibling. But Kludd's jealousy has terrible consequences--causing both owlets to fall from their treetop home and right into the talons of the Pure Ones. Now it is up to Soren to make a daring escape with the help of other brave young owls. Together they soar across the sea and through the mist to find the Great Tree, home of the legendary Guardians of Ga'Hoole--Soren's only hope of defeating the Pure Ones and saving the owl kingdoms.

The animation in this movie was phenomenal. The aerial stuff made the 3D actually matter more than it usually does. Unfortunately, the story was beyond convoluted. I had no clue what they were talking about most of the time. It was like an animated version of Lord Of The Rings with how in depth the story was. Go read the above synopsis above and you'll completely understand what I'm saying here. All I kept asking myself is how in the blue hell kids would be able to follow this.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone checking this out. Even with how great the animation is, the story is way too much to be able to just enjoy the movie.

You Again

Successful PR pro Marni (Kristen Bell) heads home for her older brother's (Jimmy Wolk) wedding and discovers that he's marrying her high school arch nemesis (Odette Yustman), who's conveniently forgotten their problematic past. Then the bride's jet-setting aunt (Sigourney Weaver) bursts in and Marni's not-so-jet-setting mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) comes face to face with her own high school rival. The claws come out and old wounds are opened in this crazy comedy that proves that not all rivalries are forever.

This movie is exactly what you would expect from the trailer. There are no surprises. You know damn well how its going to play out before you even sit down. There are some good laughs scattered throughout. Thats really about it. Oh, there is one more thing. This movie has been at the forefront of the Betty White hype push yet she really isn't in the movie that much at all. What's that about?

I'd lukewarmly recommend people checking this one out. There are better comedies out there than this completely formula movie.

Catfish

In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel's brother, Nev. They had no idea that their project would lead to the most exhilarating and unsettling months of their lives. A reality thriller that is a shocking product of our times, "Catfish" is a riveting story of love, deception and grace within a labyrinth of online intrigue.

For the record, this movie is not scary in any way. Its not thrilling in any way. The advertising is totally false . . . . . . except for the disturbing part. It was very, very disturbing. My initial reaction to this is that this is exactly what I've always thought was wrong about facebook. I can't really go into too much detail without giving the movie away, but it is a very psychologically upsetting movie. Its also one of those movies that people are either going to totally love or totally hate and think its stupid. I loved it. It felt very real and believable throughout the movie and the way that it was filmed in both style and build up was very catchy and kept me beyond intrigued until the end. Its not something that I'll ever watch again, but it was a major eye opener.

I would definitely recommend everyone seeing this but ask them to keep an open mind and don't rush to judgement about whether the movie was good or not. Wait a while and let it digest so that you can really take in just how disturbing it was.

Easy A

After a little white lie about losing her virginity gets out, a clean cut high school girl (Emma Stone) sees her life paralleling Hester Prynne's in "The Scarlet Letter," which she is currently studying in school – until she decides to use the rumor mill to advance her social and financial standing.

I thought this movie was great. All of the characters were entertaining (especially the parents!!!) and Emma Stone has a very bright future in front of her. The movie was very well written and witty throughout. It was full of 80s pop culture references. John Hughes would be so proud. The movie also felt very real and made you really get in to the whole how hard it is to be in high school thing.

I would definitely recommend people checking this movie out. Its got lots of huge laughs and more than worth your time.

Alpha & Omega

What makes for the ultimate road trip? Hitchhiking, truck stops, angry bears, prickly porcupines and a golfing goose with a duck caddy. Just ask Kate and Humphrey, two wolves who are trying to get home after being taken by park rangers and shipped halfway across the country. Humphrey is an Omega wolf, whose days are about quick wit, snappy one-liners and hanging with his motley crew of fun-loving wolves and video-gaming squirrels. Kate is an Alpha: duty, discipline and sleek Lara Croft eye-popping moves fuel her fire. Humphrey's motto – make 'em laugh. Kate's motto – I'm the boss. And they have a thousand miles to go.Back home rival wolf packs are on the march and conflict is brewing. Only Kate and Humphrey can restore the peace. But first, they have to survive each other.

This was a watchable kids movie. Unlike most animated movies that are just as entertaining for the adults, this one was blatantly aimed more at the kids. There are some good laughs for the adults, but without younger children to enjoy this you will find yourself asking why you are watching it.

I would definitely recommend this movie to those with younger kids. Its short and worth the visit. Those of you grown up animated movie fans - be warned that this one isn't really made for you.

Devil

A group of people trapped in an elevator realize that the devil is among them.

That's really it for the synopsis. This movie is super short and that pretty much sums it up. The movie felt like a Tales From The Crypt episode. It was very watchable but I feel like they could have easily scared the hell out of more but held back. The trailer was more terrifying than the movie. Its watchable . . . . . especially because its like a hour and 15 minutes long. They keep you interested in what is going on. I just feel like they pulled their punches big time.

I would sort of recommend people checking this out. Its not nearly as scary as expected, but is a short, watchable visit to theaters.

The Town

Doug MacRay (Ben Affleck) is an unrepentant criminal, the de facto leader of a group of ruthless bank robbers who pride themselves in stealing what they want and getting out clean. With no real attachments, Doug never has to fear losing anyone close to him. But that all changed on the gang's latest job, when they briefly took a hostage--bank manager, Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall). Though they let her go unharmed, Claire is nervously aware that the robbers know her name...and where she lives. But she lets her guard down when she meets an unassuming and rather charming man named Doug...not realizing that he is the same man who only days earlier had terrorized her. The instant attraction between them gradually turns into a passionate romance that threatens to take them both down a dangerous, and potentially deadly, path.

This was an exellently well crafted movie. I kind of got that Heat or The Departed vibe from watching the trailer and was very excited to see the movie. While the movie wasn't necessarily on par with the two aforementioned movies, it was still an excellent story that was told in perfect fashion. Factoring in the part where this was directed by Ben Affleck and that just makes it that much more impressive. The performances across the board were great. Being familiar with Boston and how much of a part it plays in the story made it that much better.

I would definitely recommend everyone checking this movie out. Its the way story build up should be done and a great ride.

Resident Evil: Afterlife

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice (Milla Jovovich), continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead takes them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead - and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Why do they keep making these? I had actually lost count and had to ask around to find out that this was the fourth installment of this "franchise". I'm guessing it picked up right where the third one went off. I had no clue what the hell was going on because I clearly didn't care about the third one. I just kind of accepted that there were numerous versions of Milla Jovovich. It was tough to accept seeing as how one of her is painful enough. Side note - I still can't watch her without hearing her say multipass. Anywho, the movie is garbage. The whole franchise is garbage. The only thing that was a positive about this movie is that it is only the third movie out of all the "3D" movies that was made with the intention of it being 3D all along instead of that after the fact altering. You can totally tell the difference and there were some cool visual moments throughout the movie. But that really was all.

Hell no I wouldn't recommend anyone checking this out. I want them to stop making these. Its ridiculous that this franchise has more movies that Spider-Man or Iron Man or even Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married franchises.

The Last Exorcism

When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy. Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus' own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell – and themselves – before it is too late.

I really liked this movie. You know how after the Blair Witch Project opened up so many movies tried to do the same mockumentary hand held camera approach and it was all over done and got beaten to death? Well, this one finally delivers just like The Blair Witch Project. Its super short, they establish legit doubts about exorcisms and what not, the camera angle approaches build up in creepiness, and then it culminates in a way that you are glued to the screen. Granted, I didn't really expect too much from this movie. Maybe that led to my enjoyment of it, but I still liked it alot.
I would definitely recommend people checking this out . . . . . if you enjoy movies like this. There is hand held camera throughout so avoid if that makes you naseuous. It also gets pretty grisly at the end so be warned.

Machete

The feature version of the trailer from Grindhouse finds Machete (Trejo) a renegade former Mexican Federale, roaming the streets of Texas after a shakedown from drug lord Torrez (Steven Seagal). Reluctantly, Machete takes an offer from spin doctor Benz (Fahey) to assassinate McLaughlin (Robert De Niro) a corrupt Senator. Double crossed and on the run Machete braves the odds with the help of Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a saucy taco slinger, Padre (Cheech Marin) his "holy" brother, and April (Lindsay Lohan) a socialite with a penchant for guns. All while being tracked by Sartana (Jessica Alba), a sexy ICE agent with a special interest in the blade slinger.

I must tell the truth and say that I turned this movie off after 33 minutes. It wasn't that it was the worst thing I've ever seen. I just figured I had too many things to do other than continue watching it. This is yet another of those it is what it is movie. Its a 70s exploitation movie with crazy over the top gore, lame writing/acting and a grainy feel to the film itself. Machete kills anyone that gets in his way . . . . . in the nastiest way possible. For example, I turned it off shortly after he gutted some guy and used his intestines as a rope to jump out of a window and go two floors down.

My recommendation for this movie solely depends on if you like these kinds of movies. If you do - you will laugh and have a great time watching it. If you don't (or you are too busy like I was) you shouldn't bother with it.

Going The Distance

Erin's (Drew Barrymore) wry wit and unfiltered frankness charm newly single Garrett (Justin Long) over beer, bar trivia and breakfast the next morning. Their chemistry sparks a full-fledged summer fling, but neither expects it to last once Erin heads home to San Francisco and Garrett stays behind for his job in New York City. But when six weeks of romping through the city inadvertently become meaningful, neither is sure they want it to end. And while Garrett's friends, Box (Jason Sudeikis) and Dan (Charlie Day), joke about his pre-flight calorie cutting and his full-time relationship with his cell phone, they don't like losing their best drinking buddy to yet another rocky romance. At the same time, Erin's high-strung, overprotective married sister, Corrine (Christina Applegate), wants to keep Erin from heading down an all-too-familiar road. But despite the opposite coasts, the nay-saying friends and family, and a few unexpected temptations, the couple just might have found something like love, and with the help of a lot of texting, sexting and late-night phone calls, they might actually go the distance.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was one of the more funny and believable date movies to come out in a while. The chemistry worked. The supporting characters (especially Charlie Day) were awesome with the comedic support. It wasn't too long.

I'd definitely recommend people checking this out. The language might be a little bit crude, but this was one of the more unexpected fun times I've had at the theater in a while.

The American

As an assassin, Jack (Clooney) is constantly on the move and always alone. After a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, Jack retreats to the Italian countryside. He relishes being away from death for a spell as he holes up in a small medieval town. While there, Jack takes an assignment to construct a weapon for a mysterious contact, Mathilde (Reuten). Savoring the peaceful quietude he finds in the mountains of Abruzzo, Jack accepts the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto (Bonacelli) and pursues a torrid liaison with a beautiful woman, Clara (Placido). Jack and Clara's time together evolves into a romance, one seemingly free of danger. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.

This is a stunning example of how false advertising can ruin a movie. The commercial for this looked great with tons of action and Clooney being all bad a$$. In the movie . . . . . none of this happened. There was one action scene that lasted about 2 minutes. Clooney could not have been less bad a$$ if he tried. He was actually more of a depressing bump on a log for most of the movie. The movie is not an action thriller whatsoever. Its actually more of an artsy independent movie and might have been enjoyable . . . . . . . if it was advertised as one.

I wouldn't really recommend too many people going to check this out. It ended up being a pretty big snoozefest due to misadvertising.

Takers

Takers revolves around a notorious group of criminals (Idris Elba, Paul Walker, T.I., Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen and Michael Ealy) who continue to baffle police by pulling off perfectly executed bank robberies. They are in and out like clockwork, leaving no evidence behind and laying low in between heists. But when they attempt to pull off one last job with more money at stake than ever before, the crew may find their plans interrupted by a hardened detective (Matt Dillon) who is hell-bent on solving the case.

This is literally an urban wannabe version of Heat. Heat happens to be one of my favorite movies of all time. Its one of those that I stop what I'm doing if I'm flipping through the channels and see that its on. Unfortunately, this wannabe urban version of it is just kind of there. Idris Elba is no Robert DeNiro. Matt Dillon is no Al Pacino. Chris Brown and T.I. aren't even actors! And the director comes nowhere near building the level of tension that Michael Mann did in Heat. Hell, most of the really cool scenes are taken straight after other heist movies. For example, the armored truck stuff . . . . been there done that in The Italian Job. And of course I have yet to address the biggest problem with this movie . . . . . or any movie he is in . . . . Hayden Christiansen. I hate him. The second I see him I get angry at how he destroyed everything I came to love about Star Wars.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering checking this out. Its not that its bad. Its somewhat watchable but it is literally a knockoff of Heat and other heist movies.

Lottery Ticket

Kevin Carson (Bow Wow), a young man living in the projects, wins $370 million in a nationwide lottery. When his opportunistic neighbors discover he has the winning ticket in his possession, Kevin must survive their greedy and sometimes even threatening actions over a three-day holiday weekend before he can claim his prize.

I made it exactly 34 minutes in to this movie before pulling the plug. Ironically, I slightly laughed for the first time just before turning it off, but the everything before that was so just kind of there that the one laugh wasn't enough for me to keep watching. This movie is really nothing more than a wannabee Friday but without Chris Tucker. Toss around the fact that Friday would have sucked without Chris Tucker and that would be why I pulled the plug on this bad boy.

I really wouldn't recommend anyone wasting their time with this wannabe retread. Its a total waste.

The Switch

Jennifer Aniston stars alongside Jason Bateman in this offbeat comedy as Kassie, a smart, fun-loving single woman who, despite her neurotic best friend Wally's (Bateman) objections, decides it's time to have a baby. Even if it means doing it by herself... with a little help from a charming sperm donor (Patrick Wilson). But, unbeknownst to her, Kassie's plans go awry because of a last-minute switch that isn't discovered until seven years later when Wally finally gets acquainted with Kassie's cute--though slightly neurotic--son.

This is one of those movies that I was confused about. I enjoyed it - mostly because of Jason Bateman and the kid - but the movie really is one of those just kind of there movies. Jennifer Aniston continues to play Rachel from Friends. Juliette Lewis is beyond annoying as the best friend. Jeff Goldblum is annoying and useless. But there was something about Jason Bateman and the kid and their connection that made me care where it was going even though you pretty much know from the trailer how its going to go.

I would lukewarmly recommend people checking this out. Its not a must see by any means but there are much worse things out there.

Pirahna 3D

Every year the population of sleepy Lake Victoria explodes from 5,000 to 50,000 for Spring Break; a riot of sun and drunken fun. But this year, there's something more to worry about than hangovers and complaints from local old timers. A new type of terror is about to be cut loose on Lake Victoria. After a sudden underwater tremor sets free scores of the prehistoric man-eating fish, an unlikely group of strangers must band together to stop themselves from becoming fish food for the area's new razor-toothed residents.

Holy no shame, Batman! This movie features the most blatant nudity and insane gore I've seen since a 70s/80s B movie. It was crazy. I expected it to be gory, but not THIS gory. I expected there to be nudity, but not THAT much nudity. This is the R-est of R movies I've seen in a while. There was really nothing that they held back on. The only thing that made this movie enjoyable is that it was supposed to be like this. The thing about these movies is that they don't try to be something they're not. Its a lame ass movie about killer fish. Everything is blatantly over the top and it ends being enjoyable/laughable because of that . . . . . as long as you can handle the gore. There is one scene with the fish in particular that had be howling with laughter. Beyond gross - but so campy and funny.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys campy horror movies like this. Its a truly horrible movie but they all knew that making it. Enjoy the schlock if you can.

Centurion

AD 117. The Roman Empire stretches from Egypt to Spain, and East as far as the Black Sea. But in northern Britain, the relentless onslaught of conquest has ground to a halt in face of the guerrilla tactics of an elusive enemy: the savage and terrifying tribes known as the Picts. Quintus, sole survivor of a Pictish raid on a Roman frontier fort, marches north with General Virilus' legendary Ninth Legion, under orders to wipe the Picts from the face of the earth and destroy their leader Gorlacon. But when the legion is ambushed on unfamiliar ground, and Virilus taken captive, Quintus faces a desperate struggle to keep his small platoon alive behind enemy lines, evading remorseless Pict pursuers over harsh terrain, as the band of soldiers race to rescue their General, and to reach the safety of the Roman frontier.

This movie is opening up extremely limited. Thats because it pretty much is a giant turd. The preview made it seem like it might be somewhat watchable for a Roman empire period piece and what not. It isn't. Its easily a direct to DVD fluff piece. Its the same old story and the battles are just about showing as much gore as possible. I couldn't even force myself to finish the movie because I was bored out of my mind.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone bother wasting their time on this. Its probably not going to be playing at too many theaters near you anyway. This is a good thing.

Nanny McPhee Returns

Nanny McPhee appears at the door of a harried young mother, Mrs. Isabel Green (Maggie Gyllenhaal), who is trying to run the family farm while her husband is away at war. But once she's arrived, Nanny McPhee discovers that Mrs. Green's children are fighting a war of their own against two spoiled city cousins who have just moved in and refuse to leave. Relying on everything from a flying motorcycle and a statue that comes to life to a tree-climbing piglet and a baby elephant who turns up in the oddest places, Nanny McPhee uses her magic to teach her mischievous charges five new lessons.

I'll admit that I actually really enjoyed the first Nanny McPhee. It was a quality family movie with morals for the kids and some pretty decent laughs. This one was kind of over the top and they took away the moral magic and replaced it with actual magic. Once that cutesy part was gone, the movie kind of ended up being blah.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone checking this out. Even those of you desperate for something to do with your kids. This is a pretty big waste of your time and money.

Vampires Suck

Vampires Suck is a comedy about contemporary teen angst and romance movies. Becca, an anxious, non-vampire teen, is torn between two boys. Before she can choose, Becca must get around her controlling father, who embarrasses Becca by treating her like a child. Meanwhile, Becca’s friends contend with their own romantic issues – all of which collide at the prom.

This is another one of those lame-a$$ spoof movies. I beg of them to stop making 4-5 of these a year. Let some time go by and get better material and maybe there might be more than two laughs in the whole movie . . . . if there are even two. This one didn't have anything in the first 25 minutes to make WW and I care enough to waste any more time. The plug was happily pulled.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone bother with this juicy turd. Its a complete and total waste of time.

The Expendables

The Expendables is a hard-hitting action/thriller about a group of mercenaries hired to infiltrate a South American country and overthrow its ruthless dictator. Once the mission begins, the men realize things aren’t quite as they appear, finding themselves caught in a dangerous web of deceit and betrayal. With their mission thwarted and an innocent life in danger, the men struggle with an even tougher challenge – one that threatens to destroy this band of brothers.

This movie is exactly what you would expect it to be. Its straight up testosterone on the screen. Big guys. Big guns. Lots of explosions. Horrible dialogue. Weak a$$ story. Lots of fighting. I loved it. It was a total 80s action movie throwback. The scene with Stallone, Willis and Schwartzenneger is hysterical. The fact that they have Stone Cold Steve Austin and Randy Couture have a big fight one on one is a total shout out to the WWE/UFC fans. The best part of the movie is the chemistry between all of these action actors. You can tell that they probably had a LOT of fun making this movie and it shows throughout.

I would definitely recommend people who were interested in this movie checking it out. If you want action - this movie couldn't deliver more.

Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World

Meet charming and jobless Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera). A bass guitarist for garage band Sex Bob-omb, the 22-year-old has just met the girl of his dreams...literally. The only catch to winning Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead)? Her seven evil exes are coming to kill him.

Let me just state for the record before proceeding that this is one of the most ridiculous, silly, over the top movies I have ever seen. That being said, this movie was so ridiculous, silly and over the top that I ended up really enjoying it. Its NOT a good movie at all. I would never recommend this to anyone as a good movie. I liked it because of how not good it was. Michael Cera plays the same damn character that he has 10 times already. The story is ridiculous. The batman like fight words throughout were insane. The dialogue was totally straight from friends sitting around bs-ing. Yet, all of that mushed together and thrown on the big screen was so bad that I liked it.

Again, I wouldn't blatantly recommend that anyone watch this. Its a bad movie. But if you are like me and can derive joy from something so bad that it ends up being good - you should go check this out.

Step Up 3D

New York's street dancing underground comes alive in the third installment of the "Step Up" franchise as the raw, passion-fueled culture goes global. A tight-knit group of street dancers, including Luke (Rick Malambri) and Natalie (Sharni Vinson), team up with NYU freshman Moose (Adam Sevani), and find themselves pitted against the world's best breakdancers in a high-stakes showdown that will change their lives forever.

This movie was such a letdown after the second one. I have gotten over my shock at how much I enjoyed the second one. I believe its still one of Stinka's top 3 of all time. The dancing was fun, you kind of cared about the characters and it had that underdog story firing on all cylinders. This one not so much. It was all very forced with no effort in to any of the above things. It was basically just 3 or 4 big dances that they just wanted to get to. You only care about one character who was carried over from the second one, but it keeps going back and forth about how much he mattered.

I wouldn't really recommend anyone bothering to check this out. It was very forced, scattered, and the dance scenes weren't even that impressive. Go watch Step Up 2 The Streets instead.

The Other Guys

Set in New York City, The Other Guys follows Detective Allen Gamble (Will Ferrell), a forensic accountant who's more interested in paperwork than hitting the streets, and Detective Terry Hoitz (Mark Wahlberg), who has been stuck with Allen as his partner ever since an embarrassing public incident with his quick trigger finger. Allen and Terry idolize the city's top cops, Danson and Manzetti (Dwayne Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson), but when an opportunity arises for the Other Guys to step up, things don't quite go as planned.

I am shocked at how funny this movie ended up being. I saw the preview and figured it would just be another Will Ferrell movie with a few laughs but not really worth the time. I also figured that Mark Wahlberg would fall so completely flat. I was wrong on both accounts. Mark Wahlberg actually ended up being the funniest part of the movie and I think this was the funniest that Will Ferrell has been since Elf, taking away any roles where he was playing off of John C Reilly. The two of them worked off of each other much better than I could have imagined.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out for a good laugh. Although, I should state for the record that I went in to this with NO expectations whatsoever and was pleasantly surprised. Not sure if it would be as good if you were to go in with expectations.

Middle Men

In 1995, everyone had a VCR, music was sold in record stores, and the world-wide-web was a new found discovery. Businessman Jack Harris (Luke Wilson) had the perfect life - a beautiful family and a successful career fixing problem companies. And then he met Wayne Beering (Giovanni Ribisi) and Buck Dolby (Gabriel Macht), two genius but troubled men, who had invented the way adult entertainment is sold over the internet. When Jack agrees to help steer their business, he soon finds himself caught between a 23 year-old porn star and the FBI all the while becoming one of the wealthiest entrepreneurs of his time.

I was very surprised at how good this movie ended up being. I pretty much went in to it expecting it to just be an excuse for nudity and had a back up plan in case to bail and get another movie checked off my list. However, the nudity wasn't over the top considering that the movie is about pornography and the internet. The movie ended up being more about dealing with the mob and the feds and had some pretty enjoyable performances. Luke Wilson was his usual self where you find yourself laughing even though he is completely straight faced. His character was very believable and you found yourself rooting for him.

I would definitely recommend people checking this out. It is a surprisingly good watch.

Dinner For Schmucks

"Dinner for Schmucks" tells the story of Tim (Paul Rudd), a guy on the verge of having it all. The only thing standing between him and total career success is finding the perfect guest to bring to his boss' annual Dinner for Extraordinary People, an event where the winner of the evening brings the most eccentric character as his guest. Enter Barry (Steve Carell), a guy with a passion for dressing mice up in tiny outfits to recreate great works of art.

This movie was hysterical. And the funniest part was that it was just Steve Carell's innocence that made it so hysterical. His delivery and responses to other characters was truly priceless. The story itself was beyond simple and the movie was absolutely 20-30 minutes longer than it had to be. Outside of that there are no knocks that I would make on this. It is a truly funny collection of characters and this is easily the laugh out loud movie of the year.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good laugh. It was one of the three movies that I was very excited for this summer and it didn't disappoint at all.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge Of Kitty Galore

In the age-old battle between cats and dogs, one crazed feline has taken things a paw too far. Kitty Galore, formerly an agent for cat spy organization MEOWS, has gone rogue and hatched a diabolical plan to not only bring her canine enemies to heel, but take down her former kitty comrades and make the world her scratching post. Faced with this unprecedented threat, cats and dogs will be forced to join forces for the first time in history in an unlikely alliance to save themselves - and their humans - in

Oh my god! Not that i expected anything from this turd at all, but this was just all out torture on all of your senses. Its movies like this that make me so mad that millions and millions of dollars are spent, not to mention all the money that parents spend on it. Its also the type of movie that makes me hate my movie addiction the most.

I recommend this movie to nobody. Dont get me wrong. Kids will love it but its just downright painful for the adults. Run for your lives!

Charlie St. Cloud

Accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud (Efron) has the adoration of mother Claire and little brother Sam, as well as a college scholarship that will lead him far from his sleepy Pacific Northwest hometown. But his bright future is cut short when a tragedy strikes and takes his dreams with it. After his high-school classmate Tess (Amanda Crew) returns home unexpectedly, Charlie grows torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love. And as he finds the courage to let go of the past for good, Charlie discovers the soul most worth saving is his own.

This might be one of the most forced heart string movies I have ever seen. The problem is that no effort is made to get you attached to any characters so you end up not really caring when they end up dead. I know that sounds cold, but I cant remember a time when I cared less about movie characters dying.

I wouldnt recommend anyone wasting their time with this. Its blatantly forced heart string pulling and is a total waste of time.

The Kids Are All Right

The Kids Are All Right is the heartfelt comedy starring Annette Bening, Julianne Moore, and Mark Ruffalo. Two teenaged children (Mia Wasikowska and Josh Hutcherson) get the notion to seek out their biological father and introduce him into the family life that their two mothers (Bening and Moore) have built for them. Once the donor (Ruffalo) is found, the household will never be the same, as family ties are defined, re—defined, and re—re—defined.

This was a very well crafted character drama/comedy. All the performances were realistic and great. The relationships and the different personality traits were all incredibly well scripted and genuine even though it isn't the textbook family that has been force fed to us as "normal". The only knock that I would make against this movie is that its one of those where the buzz reviews of it being the greatest thing may raise expectations too high. And for a "family comedy" this movie is chock full of sex, so be warned.

I would definitely recommend that those of you that are in to great/realistic peformances and a truly well crafted script about family dynamics. Outside of that, you should probably pass on this one. Its not really a mainstream movie.

Salt

As a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt (Jolie) swore an oath to duty, honor and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy. Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who Is Salt?"

I am so shocked at how crazy, kick a$$ this movie was!!! I expected it to be your typical run of the mill espionage movie. This was like a female version of the Bourne movies. It played out like a video game. The action was crazy non-stop. The only slight pauses (I and I mean slight) were little vignettes in between to set up different locations and then the game was right back on. There really wasn't a chance for me to go to the bathroom. It was that intense.

I would definitely recommend everyone checking this bad boy out. Movies like this are what going to the movies in the summer is all about.

Ramona & Beezus

The adventures of young Ramona Quimby (newcomer Joey King) and her big sister Beezus (Selena Gomez) come to life in this all new film based on the best-selling books by Beverly Cleary. Ramona's vivid imagination, boundless energy, and accident-prone antics keep everyone she meets on their toes. But her irrepressible sense of fun, adventure and mischief come in handy when she puts her mind to helping save her family’s home.

This was a very cute family movie. The kid was very cute. All of the relationships that she had and how everyone played off of each other were very cute. The story and how it all played out was very cute. Not sure if I'm getting my point across here or not. This movie is the dictionary definition of cute.

I would definitely recommend this movie to all families and anyone with children. Stinka absolutely loved the movie and I was able to enjoy its cuteness as well.

Inception

Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in an original sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the intimate and infinite world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief, the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction, stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state, when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability has made him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Now Cobb is being offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back but only if he can accomplish the impossible—inception. Instead of the perfect heist, Cobb and his team of specialists have to pull off the reverse: their task is not to steal an idea but to plant one. If they succeed, it could be the perfect crime. But no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare the team for the dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy that only Cobb could have seen coming.

This movie was insanely intense right off the bat. They didn't waste any time with credits or explaining the whole entering the dreams thing. They just hit the ground running and it was such an assault on your senses of sight and hearing. The score was intense. The visual effects were mind blowing. The acting was awesome across the board. The whole idea of dream extraction seemed about as normal as eating breakfast. The back and forth between two completely different stories, one of intesnse action and espionage - the other a character drama dealing with loss and letting go, is as fluid as it could possibly be. I actually don't want to go in to too much detail because the not knowing about what this movie is really about is the best part of the intrigue. I will go on record as saying that this is by far the best movie of the year so far and yet another testament that Christopher Nolan is the greatest director since Steven Spielberg in his prime.

I couldn't possibly recommend this movie any more if I tried. It is absolutely a must see by all.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice

Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-nemesis, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina). Balthazar can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel), a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, as his reluctant protégé. The sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic, and together, these unlikely partners work to stop the forces of darkness. It'll take all the courage Dave can muster to survive his training, save the city and get the girl as he becomes "The Sorcerer's Apprentice."

This movie is exactly what you would expect it to be. It has some good moments. It has plenty of who cares moments. And of course it has a continuation of craptastic acting by Nicolas Cage. Disney basically just tried to capitalize on some cool visuals and making a movie based on the famous Mickey Mouse short from Fantasia. Ironically, the scene with the brooms that pays homage to that short is the most ill placed scene in the whole movie.

I wouldn't really recommend people checking this out. Its not outright horrible, but its not really worth your time either.

Cyrus

Still single seven years after the breakup of his marriage, John (John C. Reilly) has all but given up on romance. But at the urging of his ex-wife and best friend Jamie (Catherine Keener), John grudgingly agrees to join her and her fiancé Tim (Matt Walsh) at a party. To his and everyone else's surprise, he actually manages to meet someone: the gorgeous and spirited Molly (Marisa Tomei). Their chemistry is immediate. The relationship takes off quickly but Molly is oddly reluctant to take the relationship beyond John's house. Perplexed, he follows her home and discovers the other man in Molly's life: her son, Cyrus (Jonah Hill). A 21-year-old new age musician, Cyrus is his mom's best friend and shares an unconventional relationship with her. Cyrus will go to any lengths to protect Molly and is definitely not ready to share her with anyone, especially John. Before long, the two are locked in a battle of wits for the woman they both love—and it appears only one man can be left standing when it's over.

This was a strangely enjoyable movie. It is not a mainstream movie by any means. Its not straight up funny either. Its an artsy character comedy/drama with great performances by all three. As weird as it was, they all seemed like very real people and you ultimately do care how it turns out. Its actually one of the better performances from Jonah Hill (who I've never really been a fan of) as well as John C Reilly.

I would lukewarmly recommend this movie to people. I enjoyed it, but I could see people not liking it at all so view cautiously.

Despicable Me

In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by a small army of minions, we discover Gru (voiced by Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon. Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays, and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad. The world's greatest villain has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.

I can't remember the last time that I quoted a movie trailer as often as I have quoted this one for the last two months. As absurd as this may sound - this was actually one of the top 3 movies that I was looking forward to this summer. There was just something super quirky about all the ads for it that made me laugh . . . . . . . and the movie did not disappoint. It wasn't drop dead awesome like I had hoped, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was very funny, very cute, and super short. There is no way that you can't LOVE the little girl in the movie. If you don't - I will officially hate you in return. The only knock that I can make against this is that with the 3 -4 different trailers for this movie, I felt like I had already seen at least 1/2 of the movie already. They probably should have held back more on that.

I definitely recommend everyone checking this out. Its great for both kids and adults and is more than worth your time and money.

Predators

Robert Rodriguez presents a bold new chapter in the Predator universe. The film stars Adrien Brody as Royce, a mercenary who reluctantly leads a group of elite warriors who come to realize they've been brought together on an alien planet... as prey. With the exception of a disgraced physician, they are all cold-blooded killers - mercenaries, Yakuza, convicts, death squad members - human "predators" that are now being systemically hunted and eliminated by a new breed of alien Predators.

This was the first legit Predator movie since the first one. I'm not saying that is a must see or as awesome as the first Predator was, but this had the same feel to it finally. There was a lot of stuff that didn't need to be in there and did nothing but run the time of the movie longer (I'm talking specifically about Laurence Fishburne's entire arc here, people), and the acting was horrible. But, the Predators were pretty bad ass, the action was cool enough to suffice, and they finally went with the gore infused R rating.

I would recommend this movie to those of you that were looking forward to it. Its not as kick ass as it could have been, but its worth the time if you are a fan.

Eclipse

In Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella is confronted with the most important decision of her life.

Does it really matter what I have to say about this movie? If you are a fan you are going to see it - and probably already have - and if you are not you won't touch it with a ten foot pole. This is probably the best of the three movies so far simply because the studio put more money in to this one so it seems like much more of a legitamite movie than the prior two. The special effects have gotten much better as the franchise moves on and the battle/fight scenes in this are pretty good. Unfortunately, the movie is filled with numerous scenes of Bella and Edward face to face professing their love for each other and Bella and Jacob face to face saying how she should love him. This movie easily could have been an hour an a half long without all the fluff.

Regardless, fans of the series will LOVE this movie and those of you that are not won't care.

The Last Airbender

Air, Water, Earth, Fire. Four nations tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction. Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

This movie was beyond disappointing. I never watched the cartoon so i didn't have anything to base it on. I'm not sure that would have mattered though since it was the acting as bad as from the Twilight movies that made it so painful. Add to that how this bottom of the barrel production was hyped as a summer blockbuster and the annoyance by it triples. This was some of the worst "special" effects and green screen shots since the Wolverine movie last summer.

I wouldn't recommend anyone bothering to check this out. I was so bored half way in that I stopped paying attention to the way over the top story line and just found myself getting mad that I was still watching the movie.

Grown Ups

Grown Ups, starring Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, and David Spade, is a comedy about five friends and former teammates who reunite years later to honor the passing of their childhood basketball coach. With their wives (Salma Hayek, Maria Bello, Maya Rudolph) and kids in tow, they spend the Fourth of July holiday weekend together at the lake house where they celebrated their championship years earlier. Picking up where they left off, they discover why growing older doesn't mean growing up.

I was very surprised with how much I enjoyed this movie. I had pretty much grown extremely tired of Adam Sandler's movies and feel that they are pretty turdastic after about 30 minutes of decent laughs. This one lasted throughout the movie and there was great chemistry between the five main guys and their wives were able to hold their own too.

I would recommend people checking this out. Its not a must see by any means, but there are many worse things you could be stuck watching.

Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) is a scarred drifter and bounty hunter of last resort, a tough and stoic gunslinger who can track down anyone... and anything. Having survived death, Jonah's violent history is steeped in myth and legend, and has left him with one foot in the natural world and one on the "other side." His only human connection is with Leila (Megan Fox), whose life in a brothel has left her with scars of her own. But Jonah's past is about to catch up with him when the U.S. military makes him an offer he can't refuse: in exchange for his freedom from the warrants on his head, he must track down and stop the dangerous terrorist Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich). But Turnbull, who is gathering an army and preparing to unleash Hell, is also Jonah's oldest enemy and will stop at nothing until Jonah is dead.

I'm being totally serious when I say that the above summary of the movie's plot is almost as long as the movie. Take away the credits and this movie is about an hour and fifteen minutes. At that point, why even bother making it? Add to the fact that this is one of the lamest movies ever, I ask again . . . . . why even bother making it? Megan Fox is easily the worst actress in Hollywood. She has no acting talent whatsoever. I still for the life of me cannot figure out how Josh Brolin and John Malkovich were in this. These are legit academy award actors. I pray to God they changed agents.

I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone. I was done with it like 3 minutes in.

Knight & Day

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz star in this sexy action comedy, in which a chance encounter thrusts a woman and a charming but lethal operative into a series of adventures across the globe. As if dodging assassins and uncovering world-changing secrets weren't enough, she must now figure out if he is a good guy, a traitor – or just plain crazy.

This movie was alot of fun. It just started right off and you find yourself oddly intrigued. Its got lots of great action, lots of situational laughs and Diaz and Cruise had great chemistry with each other. Its not that the movie is necessarily a great movie, but it is a lot of simple popcorn movie fun.

I would definitely recommend that people check this out. Its not a must see by any means but you could absolutely do a lot worse than this fun ride.

Toy Story 3

As Andy prepares to depart for college, Buzz, Woody and the rest of his loyal toys are troubled about their uncertain future. Toy Story 3 is a comical new adventure that lands the toys in a room full of untamed tots who can't wait to get their sticky little fingers on these "new" toys. It's pandemonium as they try to stay together, ensuring "no toy gets left behind."

This is the 11th time that I will be saying this. PIXAR DOESN'T DO BAD MOVIES. Their movies have always been locks to land on my top ten lists. I actually ranked them in order last year and the "last" place movie is still amazing. I was afraid that this would be their first "disappointing" movie. Its the 3rd one. This usually leads to less emphasis on story telling. However, I was so beyond wrong. I actually liked this one more than the 3rd one. The story was awesome with so many different layers based on the characters. I also find it amazing how they are able to factor in so many characters, juggle them pretty equally and make you care for all of them. The ending of this movie will make most people get choked up or cry. Its very touching and really makes you miss being a kid.

I couldn't possibly recommend this movie any more if I tried. Its great fun for all ages and will easily be a lock for my top ten movies at the end of the year.

The Karate Kid

In The Karate Kid, 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying—and the feeling is mutual—but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. Even worse, Dre's feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng. In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts "the karate kid" on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han (Jackie Chan), who is secretly a master of kung fu. As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the fight of his life.

This movie is exactly what you would expect it to be. Its nowhere near as good and as excitement causing as the original up until the final fights at the tournament. Even then though, it seems much more forced. Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan are both good at times and extremely forced at others. And the movie is EXTREMELY too long. There is no reason for this movie to end being 2 1/2 hours. I actually found myself sitting there thinking what scenes could have been cut as they were happening on screen. Now, that I've ranted about what was wrong with the movie - I will admit that its ultimately still watchable. There are much worse things that you could waste your time watching and no matter how forced or long it is - you will still find yourself happy/cheering at the end.

I would lukewarmly recommend people checking this out. The run time really kills the movie. Its not horrible, but its not good enough that I give it my full recommendation. Its one of those middle of the road movies.

The A-Team

The A-Team follows the exciting and daring exploits of a colorful team of former Special Forces soldiers who were set up for a crime they did not commit. Going "rogue," they utilize their unique talents to try and clear their names and find the true culprit.

This movie was sooooooooooooooooo much fun. The television show was my favorite growing up so to say I was beyond geeked out for this is beyond an understatement. This completely captured all the fun and camaraderie of the television show and its awesome characters. I was pretty pissed when they cast the movie that they went for an UFC fighter to play BA Baracus. Were Ving Rhames and Michael Clarke Duncan really that busy? It ended up not really mattering because the other three actors were so perfectly cast that they ended up making the "non-actor" look good. Even with all my excitement and enjoyment that came from this movie - I should probably pause and point out the fact that I haven't completely lost it. This is not an excellent movie in that its going to be nominated for a bunch of awards or anything. It is, however, an excellent movie in which to go and watch a bunch of crazy action, huge laughs and great characters.

I would definitely recommend that everyone check this out. Its a whole lot of fun and easily the best movie to come out this summer so far.

Killers

Trying to recover from a sudden break-up, Jen Kornfeldt (Katherine Heigl) believes she'll never fall in love again. But when she reluctantly joins her parents on a trip to the French Riviera, Jen happens to meet the man of her dreams, Spencer Aimes (Ashton Kutcher). Three years later, her seemingly impossible wish has come true: she and Spencer are newlyweds living the ideal suburban life – that is, until the morning after Spencer's 30th birthday when bullets start flying. Literally. It turns out Spencer never bothered to tell Jen he's also an international super-spy, and now Jen's perfect world has been turned upside down. Faced with the fact that her husband is a hit man, Jen is determined to discover what other secrets Spencer might be keeping – all the while trying to dodge bullets, keep up neighborly appearances, manage the in-laws... and work out some major trust issues. And you thought suburban life was easy.

Horrible. Completely horrible. Ashton Kutcher did nothing but solidify the fact that he is a horrible excuse for an actor. Katherine Heigl also did nothing except play the same character that she plays in every movie . . . . . horribly. This was just downright painful.

No, I wouldn't suggest that anyone see this movie . . . . ever. Seriously. It would be just cruel to your eyes, ears and brain.

Marmaduke

Marmaduke, the world's most lovable Great Dane, leaps from comic strip fame to big screen stardom. In this family comedy, the "Duke" is living large in Orange County, California. But fitting in with his new four-legged friends – and a potential romantic interest -- isn't always easy for a super-sized teenage dog.

This movie is exactly what you expect. Its a decent family/kids movie with some laughs, some cuteness, short running time, and talking animals. Its not completely painful to watch, but its not something that I would push for people over the age of 10 or 11 to see either. It basically plays out a lot like the first Garfield movie a couple of years back.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for something to take kids to. Outside of that - I have no idea why you would be entertaining the thought of seeing this.

Splice

Clive and Elsa are superstars of the genetic engineering world. They specialize in splicing together DNA from different animals to create fantastical new hybrids. The charismatic couple wants to use human DNA in a new hybrid – something that could yield astronomical medical benefits. The pharmaceutical company that funds their research, however, is more interested in exploiting their earlier triumphs for easier, short-term profit. Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiment. The result is Dren: an amazing creature who exhibits an array of unexpected developments, both physical and intellectual. Dren exceeds their wildest dreams... and, ultimately, their most terrifying nightmare.

Wow. This was like watching a massive train wreck. The most deranged and "what the f#ck" face causing train wreck of all time. Adrien Brody is now my number one example of why actors or actresses should not win an Academy Award unless they have a big enough pedigree regardless of how good that one performance was. Halle Berry used to have this honor for all the crap she's made since winning a couple of years back. With this movie alone - Adrian Brody has blown her out of the water. I literally sat there for 2 hours saying "that's an oscar winner". The way that this movie got more and more absurd as it went on was mind numbing. To be honest - I have no idea how I made it through the whole movie.

I would absolutely not recommend anyone checking this giant turd out. I went in with bottom of the barrell expectations and got even less. Very rarely am I this embarassed to say that I saw a movie.

Get Him To The Greek

Aaron Green (Hill) gets things done. The ambitious 23-year-old has exaggerated his way into a dream job just in time for a career-making assignment. His mission: Fly to London and escort a rock god to L.A.'s Greek Theatre for the first-stop on a $100-million tour. His warning: Turn your back on him at your own peril.British rocker Aldous Snow (Brand) is both a brilliant musician and walking sex. Weary of yes men and piles of money, the former front man is searching for the meaning of life. But that doesn't mean he can't have a few orgies while he finds it. When he learns his true love is in California, Aldous makes it his quest to win her back... right before kick-starting his world domination. As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.

This movie was pretty much exactly what I expected. There were HUGE laughs at times. And then it kind of dragged at others. I've never really been a big fan of Jonah Hill and feel that he is only good depending on who he is playing off of. Luckily, he plays great off of Russell Brand and played even better off of P Diddy. There's something I never thought that I would say. The scene with the furry walls had me doubled over laughing. Again, the one knock against this is that they could have easily made it 15 minutes shorter and this would have been perfect.

I would definitely recommend this movie to the audience that it was meant for. Its not a straight up comedy for the masses. Its full of sex, drugs and what not so its definitely an acquired taste.
