Pompeii

Set in 79 A.D., Pompeii tells the story of Milo (Kit Harington), a slave turned invincible gladiator who finds himself in a race against time to save his true love Cassia (Emily Browning), the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to a corrupt Roman Senator. As Mount Vesuvius erupts in a torrent of blazing lava, Milo must fight his way out of the arena in order to save his beloved as the once magnificent Pompeii crumbles around him.

This movie was pretty much garbage.  Imagine watching Titanic knowing that everyone dies in the end and not having the emotional investment that you had in Jack & Rose.  That is Pompeii.  It was a wannabe Gladiator for the first hour plus with a love storyline that creates zero interest in.  Then Pompeii erupts, lots of effects that were not spectacular in any way honestly and this is not a spoiler based on it being an actual event - everyone dies.

I wouldn't recommend anyone bothering with this movie.  It was such a boring snoozefest.  Didn't even have great apocolyptic effects.
